In the garden today I found some spiders and other insects. I found a spiders web that had lots of dead insects in it that the spider must have had for lunch.
Hi Luke Thanks for sharing your post with your photos of all of the bugs. When you come back to school I will have to show you the photo of the big bushman spider my daughter found on her bed a couple of nights ago. It must have been looking for somewhere warm. It was very big. I'm glad it wasn't on my bed! There are lots of slaters, were they under a piece of wood, or just scurrying about out in the sun? Ann
Hi luke, thats good hunting finding all those insects. Sometimes when I see bugs caught in a spiders web I gently tap it and most of the time the spider will come out of hiding thinking he has caught something new. Not so long ago a monarch got caught in a web and I thought that spider is not eating the beautiful butterfly, so i got it out and put it on one of my sunflowers. Maybe next time you find a web you might like to tap it and see what happens?
Hi Luke The garden is a very interesting place when you decide to start looking for things isn't it? Did you take the photos? They are good. Did you try and pick up any of the insects?
That's a lot of bugs. Did you look them up to see what they were.Did you know the slaters scientific name is Oniscidea? Maybe you could look up the scientific names of your other bug discoveries.
Kia ora Luke, Wow, it is so exciting to be able to see all of the bugs you found! You managed to find so many different kinds, and I am amazed at how brave you were to get up close and take these photos! How many different kinds of bugs did you find? Do you know what type of spiders you found? What are the insects in the final photo, and how big were they? It would be awesome if you could reply to this comment and let me know! Exploring nature is such a fun thing to do, and I can remember trying to catch all of the bugs and insects outside of my house when I was younger. Do you ever catch bugs? What is your favourite bug/insect and why? Keep up the fantastic blogging! Nga mihi
