Sea Lion

While we have been at Ka Ka Point we have been going for walks on the beach.
On our first walk we were going to Kiora Creek, but we saw a Sea Lion.
We tried to go past him but then we turned back because Mum and Dad said he might chase us.
Do you think he would of chased us or not?

  2. Hi Luke
I think he probably would have chased you, but I wouldn't like to be in the experiment to see if he would chase you! I really like the photo. Are you enjoying your Lockdown in your different bubble?

  3. I am not sure if I would like to find out if he would have chased you as I hear that they move very fast and you can not out run them. But still what a cool thing to see and I like the photo. I wonder what the sea lion was thinking?

  5. Kia ora Luke,
Well done on creating this blogpost about the Sea Lion you found at KaKa Point Beach!
I really like sea lions, especially when you see them lounging around on the sand. They always look so comfy and cosy, and on sunny days I wish I could join them as they sunbathe along the beach.
This Sea Lion that you found looks extremely interesting. I have personally never seen a brown Sea Lion on a New Zealand beach before, or one whose fur was so prominent. It makes me wonder if all of the Sea Lions I have seen in the past were actually seals.
You mentioned how you turned around because you thought he might chase you.
What was it that made you think he would chase you?
You also mentioned how you found this Sea Lion on your walk at Kiora Creek. How far along your walk did you get before you had to turn around?
It would be awesome if you could reply to this comment and let me know!
Unless you tried to hurt him, or got to close, I think you would have been fine to travel around the Sea Lion. It is always a good idea to be safe though, so it was probably the best option to turn around and not risk upsetting him.
    Keep blogging!
    Nga mihi
